Welding is one of the most common types of fabrication, used in repairs, construction and component manufacturing. The welding process involves joining multiple pieces of metal (although other materials such as thermoplastics can also be welded) together by bringing them to the melting point using a blowpipe or an electric arc. Then the joining is secured by hammering or pressing. The heat and extreme pressure produced by these tools fuses metal parts together to create a permanent bond.
